Anita Fetsch Felix began her formal violin studies at the age of 14 under the tutelage of her mother, violinist Nicholette Fetsch. At the age of sixteen, she began her professional work as a section member of the Stockton Symphony and has continued to develop her love of solo and chamber music repertoire in addition to the continuation of her orchestral activities.

Anita’s Orchestral Career

Anita graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison with Bachelor of Music degree in violin performance in 1982. She has performed in various roles with several orchestras. From 1982-1986, she performed as a member of the Omaha Symphony and as the second violinist of the Omaha String Quartet giving concerts at the Joslyn Art Museum, and throughout the school districts of the Omaha/Council Bluffs region. Anita was formerly the assistant concertmaster of the Stockton Symphony and the concertmaster of the Gold Country Chamber Orchestra until 1996. Currently, her orchestral work consists of performances with the Sacramento Philharmonic, Sacramento Opera, Sacramento Choral Society, Sacramento Ballet, and substitute work with the Modesto Symphony. Anita is in her ninth season as concertmaster of the Folsom Lake Symphony.

Anita’s Chamber and Ensemble Career

In addition to her orchestral work, Anita has pursued her desire to perform virtuosic violin chamber music through the formation of several performing groups. She began with the formation of Duo Concertante in 1994, a piano and violin duo with her pianist father, Wolfgang Fetsch. Anita and her father were included as roster artists of the California Touring and Presenting Program through the California Arts Council. Anita also performed as a member of the Sierra Ensemble from 2008 to 2015, a violin, piano, and French horn trio based in Northern California. With the Sierra Ensemble, she and her colleagues performed in Istanbul and Ankara, Turkey in 2013, and held a residency at the Crowden School, working with budding composers in Berkeley, Ca. They were recipients of the American Composer’s Forum grant, travel funding by the U.S. State Department, and were selected for inclusion on the San Francisco Friends of Music roster of artists.
After years of performing together in the orchestral setting, Anita and harpist Beverly Wesner-Hoehn formed the Angelica Duo. Anita also currently performs with oboist Curtis Kidwell and pianist John Cozza in their trio, the Tres Musicos, and the American River Chamber Players comprised of member of the Modesto Symphony, Sacramento Philharmonic and Folsom Lake Symphony.
